Bathukamma is the most celebrated cultural festival of Telangana and symbolizes the region’s rich traditions, unity, and respect for nature. Celebrated over nine days during the September–October (Ashwayuja Masam) season, the festival is dedicated to Goddess Gauri (Parvati). Women create beautifully arranged floral stacks using seasonal flowers such as Tangedu, Gunuka, Banthi, and Chamanthi, gather in groups to sing traditional folk songs, dance around the Bathukamma, and finally immerse the floral arrangement in nearby lakes or water bodies. The festival represents prosperity, gratitude to nature, womanhood, and the preservation of Telangana’s cultural heritage. Bathukamma is widely celebrated across Mahabubabad District with great enthusiasm and community participation.
